Bruxelles Environnement-IBGE
The SOILL project collaborates with Bruxelles Environnement-IBGE, the regional environmental administration for the Brussels-Capital Region. Tasked with conducting research, environmental planning, and providing advisory services, Bruxelles Environnement manages critical environmental themes, including ground and soil health, water, air, biodiversity, and green spaces. By supporting authorities, businesses, and the general public, the administration plays a central role in environmental awareness, the development of sector plans, and the enforcement of environmental regulations. This synergy aligns the SOILL project’s overarching objectives with regional governance, leveraging Bruxelles Environnement’s comprehensive expertise in managing urban environments, preserving natural assets like the Forêt de Soignes, and facilitating sustainable practices across multiple sectors.
A focal point of this collaboration was the integration of regional administrative insights during the SOILL-Startup Thematic Engagement Event, “PREPSOIL Final Event: Facilitating the Deployment of the Mission Soil across European Regions.” Held in Brussels, Belgium, on May 26, 2025, this event highlighted the crucial role of regional bodies in implementing soil initiatives on a broader scale. By combining the SOILL project's mission with Bruxelles Environnement's practical experience in environmental planning, public awareness, and regulatory compliance, the partnership works to facilitate the effective deployment of soil health strategies within regional policy frameworks and local communities.
