The Pathway for competitive proposal provides an overview of the key steps and available support for preparing a successful application under the EU Mission “A Soil Deal for Europe.” It highlights essential resources, including PREPSOIL’s Soil Needs Assessment, matchmaking tools, mentoring, and guidance for setting up Soil Health Living Labs. Use this guide to navigate the proposal process and access relevant platforms and materials.

  • Identify the actors needed to overcome the soil health challenges you want to address and to fulfil the multi-actor approach.
  • Consult SOILL Factsheets and PREPSOILs Soil Need Assessment for identification of potential stakeholders and activities within certain land use types.
  • Watch the recordings of the webinars on the Living Lab methodology for information on the set-up of Living Labs.
  • Find your mentor and be advised on how to go through the initial phases of establishing a Living Lab.
  • Follow the guidelines to engage stakeholders, agree on focus (challenges, objectives, land use) organization and responsibilities

  • Reach out to potential Living Labs collaborators
  • Join the Matchmaking Platform for creating partnerships among the more than 300 users from over 40 countries.
  • Check the FAQ on the SOILL Hub to find answer to some of the most common questions regarding the application process and receive support through the Helpdesk.
  • Use the Matchmaking Platform for sending messages and to showcase products, services, partnerships, projects, investments, expertise, or requests on the market place.
  • Join the SOILL events for networking and collaboration on a transnational scale.
  • Agree between Living Labs on a joint rationale behind forming the consortium.

  • Draft your application keeping close in mind the rationale of collaboration, the roles of stakeholders in the co-creation, the status of soil challenges and expected impacts.
  • Check the key SOILL actions to consider for proposals when setting up Soil Health Living Labs (SHLLs) & Lighthouses (LHs).
  • Make sure to comply with the descriptions of the Mission Soil topics
