MRV4SOC

The synergy between SOILL and the EU-funded MRV4SOC project is reflected in MRV4SOC's contribution to the SOILL-Startup Thematic Engagement Event "Caring for Soils: Insights from EU Mission Soil Projects on Measurement, Monitoring, and Management", held online on 12 December 2024. The project supports climate mitigation efforts by improving how soil organic carbon and greenhouse gas emissions are monitored and assessed. 

MRV4SOC develops a comprehensive and transparent monitoring, reporting, and verification approach to estimate carbon budgets, track soil carbon accumulation, and assess the impacts of land management and carbon farming practices. It integrates field data, modelling, and remote sensing to ensure robust and scalable solutions. 

The project contributes harmonised methodologies and tools to increase confidence in carbon accounting, support voluntary carbon markets, and enable more effective climate-smart soil management across Europe.
