MARVIC

The synergy between SOILL and the EU-funded MARVIC project is reflected in MARVIC's contribution to the SOILL-Startup Thematic Engagement Event "Caring for Soils: Insights from EU Mission Soil Projects on Measurement, Monitoring, and Management", held online on 12 December 2024. The project supports climate neutrality goals by improving how carbon sequestration and greenhouse gas emissions are measured in land-use systems.

MARVIC develops scientifically robust and cost-effective monitoring, reporting, and verification frameworks to assess changes in soil and biomass carbon as well as soil GHG emissions. These methods are designed to be adaptable to local conditions and applicable across different agricultural contexts.

The project contributes harmonised methodologies and tools to support carbon farming initiatives, strengthen trust in climate mitigation schemes, and enable better incentives for farmers to adopt climate-positive practices.
