ECHO

The synergy between SOILL and the EU-funded ECHO project is reflected in ECHO's contribution to the SOILL-Startup Thematic Engagement Event "Mission Soil Living Labs and Soil Literacy: Empowering Communities for Healthy Soils", held in Turin, Italy, on 11 June 2025. The project addresses the growing challenges of soil degradation by placing citizens at the centre of soil health monitoring and protection.

ECHO engages and empowers citizens through tailored citizen science initiatives, enabling them to contribute to soil data collection and participate in soil-related decision-making. It also develops tools such as an open-access repository to share and use citizen-generated data.

The project contributes to increasing soil literacy, strengthening public participation, and supporting more inclusive and informed approaches to soil management across Europe.
