BENCHMARKS

The synergy between SOILL and the EU-funded BENCHMARKS project is reflected in BENCHMARKS' contribution to the SOILL-Startup Thematic Engagement Event "Caring for Soils: Insights from EU Mission Soil Projects on Measurement, Monitoring, and Management", held online on 12 December 2024. The project addresses the need for reliable and harmonised approaches to assess soil health across Europe.

BENCHMARKS co-develops an integrated soil health monitoring framework and an interactive dashboard to support the selection of indicators, assessment of soil health, and identification of appropriate management practices. It brings together scientific knowledge, stakeholder input, and data from multiple sources, including field measurements, modelling, and Earth observation.

The project contributes practical tools, harmonised methodologies, and evidence to support decision-making, policy development, and sustainable soil management across different land-use systems.
